Living with a local Costa Rican host family greatly enhances and enriches the immersion experience. Participants make incredible gains in their Spanish conversation skills and understanding of Costa Rican culture. Even if the participant knows very little Spanish, interacting closely with a local family transcends language and fosters meaningful intercultural relationships.
The homestay experience is available and encouraged with all our programs. We do accommodate other housing options at a local eco-friendly lodge if desired or needed.
“Staying with a family has been the most rewarding part of being in Costa Rica. I really feel as if I am part of the family, and it is great going home to a real-life conversation to practice what you learn in class.”
